Job Title: Digital Communications Specialist
Location: Christian Heritage School, Dalton, GA
Position Overview:
The Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and executing Christian Heritage School's digital communications across the website, social media, and email newsletter platforms. This role combines writing, design, storytelling, creativity, technology, and strategic thinking to create digital experiences that effectively communicate the CHS story and engage prospective and current families, students, alumni, faculty, and the broader community. The Digital Communications Specialist will play a hands-on role in managing the school's digital presence—from identifying what the website needs and developing page layouts and wireframes, to writing and building content, creating social media content, and planning and executing newsletter communications. The ideal candidate is both creative and technically capable: someone who can write compelling copy, has a strong visual eye and graphic design experience, understands how people interact with digital content, and is comfortable working in the backend of a website and other digital platforms. This person is a self-starter, problem solver, strong communicator, and independent thinker with good judgment.
Key Responsibilities: Website Content & Experience
● Manage and maintain the day-to-day content and functionality of the CHS website and CHS app.
● Proactively identify outdated, missing, unclear, or ineffective website content and recommend improvements.
● Determine when new pages, landing pages, sections, or other website content is needed.
● Develop page structures, basic wireframes, navigation, and user pathways.
● Write, edit, build, and publish website content within the school's CMS.
● Ensure website content is accurate, current, visually appealing, intuitive, and aligned with the CHS brand.
● Identify opportunities to improve the website experience for prospective families and other key audiences.
● Monitor website analytics and use data to inform content and user-experience improvements.
● Coordinate with outside vendors or technical partners when advanced development or functionality is required. Social Media
● Execute CHS's social media strategy across appropriate platforms.
● Work with Advancement leadership to maintain a social media editorial calendar.
● Proactively identify stories, people, programs, accomplishments, events, and moments that should be highlighted.
● Write social media copy and develop creative concepts.
● Create, curate, and coordinate photography, video, graphics, and other visual content.
● Schedule and publish social media content.
● Monitor engagement and respond appropriately to comments and messages.
● Track social media performance and use analytics to improve content.
● Maintain a consistent CHS voice, tone, and visual identity across platforms. Email Communications
● Plan and execute CHS newsletters and other email communications.
● Work with Advancement leadership to maintain an email communications calendar.
● Work with Advancement leadership to establish and maintain email drip campaigns for prospective families and other audiences.
● Monitor email performance and use analytics to continually improve communications. Digital Communications & Brand
● Help develop and execute digital communications that support school-wide priorities.
● Ensure the website, social media, and email communications function as a cohesive digital presence.
● Identify opportunities to extend strong content across multiple platforms.
● Support digital campaigns and storytelling initiatives tied to major school priorities.
● Stay current with digital communication trends, tools, platforms, and best practices.
● Use analytics and audience insights to evaluate effectiveness and inform future content. Qualifications: Required
● Proficient in both creative development and technical execution.
● Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
● Adobe InDesign experience is preferred.
● Light photography experience preferred.
● Strong attention to detail.
● Experience managing website content through a CMS.
● Understanding of basic website structure, UX/UI principles, and responsive design.
● Ability to develop basic wireframes and page layouts.
● Experience managing social media content and editorial calendars.
● Experience creating and distributing email communications.
● Strong visual and aesthetic judgment.
● Ability to learn new technology and digital platforms quickly.
● Strong organizational and project-management skills.
● Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
