The First Academy is seeking a spiritually mature, vigilant, and highly reliable Security Guard (Guard Booth) to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors across the school campus. This is a 10-month, hourly position. The ideal candidate will be a master of campus safety, blending strict adherence to standardized visitor verification procedures with active monitoring and prompt intervention when addressing suspicious behavior. Serving as the primary gatekeeper for the school, this individual must approach every task with a Christ-like attitude, ensuring that student safety remains the highest priority while acting promptly and decisively during emergencies in full compliance with school safety protocols.

Reports To: Senior Director of Operations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Regular Duties

  • Monitor all entries and exits of the school and control access through Gate A.
  • Maintain daily logs, incident reports, and maintenance requests related to the booth or its equipment.
  • Verify visitor identities and keep accurate visitor logs.
  • Issue and/or print visitor badges. Collect any issued plastic school badge upon departure.
  • Deny entry to unauthorized individuals and promptly report suspicious activity while demonstrating a helpful and polite demeanor.
  • Monitor student movement and activity to identify policy violations or unusual behavior.
  • Monitor & report suspicious activity, policy violations, or safety hazards immediately.
  • Maintain vigilance, monitor radio channel 8, and avoid distractions while on duty.
  • Monitor CCTV footage (if applicable) to aid in securing the premises.
  • Implement and enforce school safety procedures and protocols.

 

Additional Duties

  • Keep the booth clean, organized, and properly secured during school hours.
  • Manage equipment, including communication devices, visitor badges, first aid kit, and emergency contact lists.
  • Provide assistance during emergency situations, following proper procedures for fire, medical, or intruder events.
  • Support students and staff by addressing inquiries, de-escalating conflict, or helping with routines related to school safety.
  • Investigate policy violations and collaborate with administrators and law enforcement as needed.
  • Perform additional administrative duties and attend training and staff-development programs as required.

Professional Qualifications

Education and Training

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • Additional training in safety and security is a benefit
  • Security training and certifications may be required (such as CPR/First Aid and crisis intervention).

Experience

  • Experience in security, law enforcement, or military preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong observation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and follow instructions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, law enforcement, and emergency service personnel.
