Qualifications:

  1. Evidence of a mature personal Christian faith consistent with the Charlotte Christian Statement of Faith.
  2. An understanding of and a commitment to the distinctive qualities of Christian education as well as the mission of Charlotte Christian School.
  3. Possess a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in art education (master’s degree preferred). 
  4. Licensure by a regional accrediting agency is preferred.
  5. Minimum of 3 years of experience preferred.
  6. Ability to teach lower school art (Junior Kindergarten – Grade 4)
  7. Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and technological skills.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Foster students’ self-esteem and confidence as they develop fine and gross motor skills, build aesthetic judgment, and create original visual arts ideas and 2-D and 3-D artworks through drawing, painting, printmaking, fibers, sculpture, ceramics, and digital media in accordance with the North Carolina teaching standards for visual arts.
  2. Guide students to communicate ideas, images, and emotions in their works through an emphasis on process over product.
  3. Develop students’ technical skills, creativity, and conceptualization so that they understand how God has gifted them individually and how they can use art as an expression of those gifts.
  4. Participate actively as a member of the lower school community, Fine Arts department, and cross-divisional visual art team.
  5. Display and highlight student artwork internally and in local art shows.

  3. Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  4. Demonstrate adeptness at problem solving and conflict resolution.
  5. Demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to finish tasks in a timely manner.
  6. Demonstrate emotional maturity and stability in dealing with the challenges of life and school.
  7. Maintain confidentiality pertaining to school matters.
  8. Work collaboratively within a team.
  9. Present a positive image of the school to others and to the community.
