Compensation: $45,000 – $70,000 annually (based on qualifications and experience)

Position Overview
Village Christian School is seeking a qualified High School / AP Science Teacher to provide engaging, rigorous instruction in science courses, including Advanced Placement (AP) offerings as assigned. This position integrates a distinctly Christian worldview into scientific inquiry while promoting critical thinking, academic excellence, and intellectual curiosity. The teacher cultivates a CAREing, Christ-centered classroom environment where students are challenged to grow academically and spiritually.
Faculty members are expected to demonstrate scholarly expertise in their discipline, effective instructional strategies, and meaningful participation in the life of the VCS community.
Primary Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Provide high-quality science instruction aligned with curriculum standards and AP expectations (if applicable)
- Integrate a Christian worldview into scientific exploration and classroom discussions
- Develop and maintain organized course plans and daily lesson plans
- Establish and communicate clear learning objectives
- Design engaging lab experiences and inquiry-based learning activities
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Utilize relevant and innovative technology to enhance learning
- Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate gradebooks, attendance records, and progress reports
Classroom Leadership
- Maintain a disciplined, respectful, and grace-filled learning environment
- Enforce school policies and procedures consistently
- Be available to students and parents before and after school
- Communicate regularly with parents and administration regarding student progress
Professional & Community Engagement
- Serve as a “1:5 adult,” providing mentorship, academic support, and advocacy
- Participate in faculty meetings, department meetings, and assigned evening events
- Attend overnight trips as assigned
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Complete supervisory and extra-duty assignments as required
- Maintain professionalism and collaboration within the VCS community
- Abide by the policies outlined in the VCS Employee Handbook

- Serve as a spiritual role model for students
- Maintain commitment to the Village Christian School Statement of Faith

Qualifications
Village Christian School seeks employees with a vibrant Christian faith. Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree in Science or education field preferred
- Teaching credential preferred
- Strong content knowledge in science discipline(s), including AP-level rigor if assigned
- Effective classroom management skills
- Experience integrating technology and laboratory instruction
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Teachers with four (4) or more assigned teaching periods are eligible for benefits.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to traverse campus and lead students to safety in an emergency
