High School Art Teacher

Little Rock Christian Academy seeks a passionate, skilled, and Christ-centered educator to serve as a High School Art Teacher. This faculty member will inspire students in grades 9–12 to grow creatively, think critically, and pursue artistic excellence through a biblical worldview. The ideal candidate will cultivate a classroom culture where students develop technical skill, creative confidence, and an appreciation for beauty, truth, and meaningful expression. LRCA emphasizes arts, academics, and athletics as key pillars of student formation. 

The High School Art Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging instruction across a variety of visual arts disciplines, building strong relationships with students, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing positively to the mission and culture of Little Rock Christian Academy. 

Responsibilities

  • Teach high school visual art courses such as Drawing, Painting, and Studio Arts classes that incorporate other mediums.
  • Develop and implement thoughtful, rigorous, and engaging lesson plans aligned with course standards and departmental goals
  • Integrate faith and learning by helping students understand creativity as a reflection of God’s design
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages exploration, discipline, craftsmanship, and artistic risk-taking
  • Assess student progress regularly and communicate effectively with students and families
  • Curate student artwork for displays, exhibitions, competitions, and special events
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring studio/classroom space
  • Collaborate with Fine Arts faculty and High School leadership to strengthen the overall arts program
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and other assigned duties
  • Serve students relationally through mentorship, encouragement, and Christlike leadership

Requirements

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and alignment with LRCA’s mission, vision, and culture
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field required
  • Valid teaching certification or ability to obtain appropriate certification preferred
  • Demonstrated skill in a variety of visual art media and techniques
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to inspire high school students while maintaining high standards of excellence
  • Collaborative spirit, positive attitude, and servant-hearted mindset
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, lifting supplies, and setting up displays or materials as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Arkansas teaching license (or ability/willingness to obtain)
  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Art Education or a closely related field (advanced degree welcomed).
  • Preferred teaching experience in visual art coursework

Position Details

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt faculty position following the academic calendar. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for exhibitions, performances, or special events
