SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Early Education Principal, the Early Education Physical Education teacher will effectively teach from a biblical worldview while managing a classroom and building positive relationships with students and parents.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively manage students in the gym during PE.
  • Teach all physical education from a biblical worldview and with excellence.
  • Create an engaging, relational, and joy-filled learning environment with the students.
  • Provide excellence in planning, teamwork, and communication.
  • Be creative, have a strong work ethic, and think "outside the box".
  • Work in a team-centered environment.
  • Other duties or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:

  • Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
  • Have a commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of Christian schooling as expressed by Southside Christian School demonstrated by their eligible children enrolled in Southside Christian School.
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or physical education is required.
  • Candidates with experience in teaching early childhood are preferred.
  • All candidates must be willing to obtain ACSI certification.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills are required.
  • Must adhere to DSS regulations including 15 professional development hours per year.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to evacuate students in the event of emergency.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to demonstrate physical activities, including running, jumping, balancing, throwing, and stretching.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and sit on the floor to interact with young children.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and occasionally assist children (typically up to 25–50 pounds).
  • Ability to react quickly to ensure student safety during physical activities.
