Evaluated: An annual written evaluation is provided by the Athletic Director.

Type of position: This is a contracted, exempt employee who is paid on a salaried basis.

Position Parameters:

  • Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport
  • Assesses players’ skills and assigns team positions
  • Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development
  • Works with the athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competitions
  • Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport
  • Determines game strategy based on the team’s capabilities
  • Provides proper supervision of athletes at all times
  • Works with the AD to monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met, and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard
  • Reports athlete injuries to the athletic trainer promptly
  • Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student
  • Reports scores and results to the local media and the athletic office
  • Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program
  • Models Christ-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
  • Follows procedure for the proper care and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and uniforms
  • Submits a list of award winners at the end of the season
  • Participates in special activities, including sports meetings, award nights, and pep rallies
  • Confirm all MRA and MAIS paperwork is on file for each athlete before allowing the athlete to participate

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid
  • Committed Christian and member of a Bible-believing church
