Position Title: Media Arts Teacher
Reports To: Director of The Arts
Status: Full-Time
Work Schedule: M-F (7:30AM-4:00PM) with occasional evenings and weekends as required for productions and events.
Position Purpose:
The Woodlands Christian Academy is seeking a Media Arts Teacher to guide Middle and Upper School students in video production, broadcasting, and digital media. This role emphasizes active participation and hands-on creation, helping students develop technical skills, storytelling ability, and production knowledge. Students create media content for school projects, broadcasts, and contests while growing in confidence, collaboration, and a God-honoring approach to creative expression.
Essential Functions:
- Teach Middle School media courses, including Video Production (7th–8th Grade) and 8th Grade Broadcasting. Focus on camera operation, sound, lighting, editing, and storytelling, providing a foundation in media production.
- Teach Upper School media courses, including US Video Production and US Broadcasting. Students progress to advanced production, social media content creation, portfolio development, and preparation for the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Premiere Pro exam.
- Ensure participation and project-based learning are integral to every course; learning happens through active engagement in creating media projects.
- Mentor students through all phases of media production: concept development, scripting, filming, editing, post-production, and live broadcasting.
- Supervise and coordinate student-run broadcasts, weekly announcements, and media projects for school events, social media, and competitions (e.g., TAPPS short film contest).
- Collaborate with the Fine Arts team to integrate media into productions, events, and cross-disciplinary projects.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and support portfolio development and technical skill growth.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and creative environment that encourages exploration, teamwork, and excellence.
- Participate in evening or weekend media projects and events as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in education or a related field.
- Successful teaching experience in field preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.
- Ability to independently supervise 20 or more students.
- Ability to handle emergency situations, fire drills, and communications as necessary or appropriate for the safety of the students and school.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The ideal candidate can:
- Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
- Work in standard office conditions and climate.
- Work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and fundraising events, as needed.
- Perform in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
- Sit and stand for extended periods of time; bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
- Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
