To advance the mission of Hill Country Christian School by ensuring that every area within our athletics department pursues character formation in our students through rigorous and excellent athletic programs.

OVERVIEW
The Assistant Athletic Director supports the Athletic Director in the leadership, administration, and daily operations of the athletic department. This role may oversee specific functional areas such as compliance, event operations, strength & conditioning, student‑athlete development, leadership/coach development, or facilities management.

- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple teams, schedules, facilities, and events simultaneously
- Knowledge of best practices in athletic program structure
- Knowledge of sport specific training models
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of similar or related experience
- Must be a Christ-follower who upholds, in word and deed, the Hill Country Christian School of Austin’s Core Values and Statement of Faith.
- Must faithfully attend a church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of this school.
- Proven experience leading spiritual formation programs and events
- BS/BA in Physical Education, Health Sciences, or Sports Management is required.
- Participation in high school sports required and college sports preferred.
- Must have a wide spread knowledge of interscholastic sports.
- Experience in coaching multiple sports and managing athletics events, schedules, and game day operations.
- Must be capable of exercising good judgment in evaluating situations, managing priorities, and making decisions.
Key Results Areas: The Asst. athletic Director will drive the execution of a top tier athletic program aimed at discipleship and ATHLETIC excellence.
Program Leadership and Culture
- Assist the AD in building a culture within all athletic programs that is authentically prioritizing the whole person formation as a priority emphasizing christ-like character formation.
- Serve as a visible leader and ambassador for athletics within the school and broader community.
- Build positive relationships with parents, alumni, supporters, and the broader community
- Assist in the development and execution of program philosophy, standards, and expectations for athletes, parents, coaches, and community
Financial Operations
- Assist AD with Budget Management: Manage the operations budget for game-day expenses, facility maintenance, equipment maintenance, third party rentals, and events.
- Ensure alignment with Governing Authority (i.e. TAPPS, CAPPS) regulations for collecting and sharing gate revenue of ticket sales, administering fines, payments for officials, etc.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Governing Authority Rules: Ensure all events adhere to Governing Authority(i.e. TAPPS, CAPPS) operating codes (e.g., crowd control policies, artificial noisemaker rules, and third party participation).
- Safety Protocols: Develop and implement Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for each venue, coordinating with athletic trainer, campus personnel, police and EMS
- Risk Mitigation: Conduct regular safety walkthroughs of venues to identify and fix potential hazards.
- Maintain athletics communications (e.g. website, socials, print) in compliance with school policies and Governing Body policies
- Ensure all programs comply with Governing Body (i.e. TAPPS, CAPPS) regulations
Student Athlete Development
- Regularly participates in and often leads devotions for players, coaches and parents
- Assists AD in developing and implementing character formation, spiritual formation and gospel awareness programs, events, resources
- Assists AD In developing player development programs (character, skill and abilities, behavioral, spiritual)
- Collaborates with teachers to ensure behavioral and academic standards and expectations are being met by all athletes enrolled in the programs overseen by Asst. AD.
- Insist on all teams, coaches, and student athletes to conduct themselves, on and off of the field, in a way that exemplifies the mission of the School and honors our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Coaching and Program Development
- Assists with recruiting, developing, appreciating and evaluating coaching staff
- Assists with coaches’ discipleship and spiritual formation initiatives
- Evaluates Athletic Programs for missional effectiveness, athletic competitiveness, athletic interests and emerging programs
Athletic Facilities and Operations
- Assist with planning, setup, and execution of athletic practices, contests and events
- Ensure all logistics within the program are organized and executed.
- Game Day Operations & Management
- Event Execution: Oversee the setup and breakdown of all home athletic events (e.g., basketball, football at the stadium, soccer/softball complexes).
- Game Staffing: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise event personnel, including ticket takers, ushers, clock operators, PA announcers, and ball boys.
- Visiting Team & Officials Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for visiting teams and game officials (referees/umpires), ensuring their locker room and travel needs are met.
- Hospitality: Coordinate VIP areas, donor hospitality suites, and student-athlete tailgating events.
- Oversee execution of all team and individual travel plans within the Athletic department / teams you oversee.
Facility Scheduling & Maintenance
- Oversee facility operations, equipment management, and maintenance coordination.
- Master Calendar: Manage the master schedule for all athletic facilities to coordinate team practices, home games, and third-party rentals
- Facility Readiness: Ensure all venues meet Governing Body (i.e. TAPPS, CAPPS) standards for competition (playing surface quality, lighting, scoreboards, and safety equipment).
- Capital Projects: Assist the Athletic Director in planning facility renovations or new construction projects.
- Ensure all use facilities are booked well in advance
Equipment Management
- Create systems to inventory, maintain, and refresh all sports equipment
- Ensure conformity to safety regulations and posted recalls, warnings, etc.
Marketing & External Relations
- Ensures athletic program communications reflects our values and are aligned with HCCSA Communications policies and procedures
- Supports AD with external relations with sponsors and supporters
Technology and Data
- Responsible to enter all athletic data, forms and metrics for programs overseen
- Supports AD in researching Athletic Software platforms used for Athlete Development and recruiting
Special Initiatives
- Supports AD on special initiatives and other duties as assignedprojects as needed
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting of 5 to 20 pounds.
- Frequently move about inside campus buildings and outside on the grounds
- Exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses.
- Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions for outdoor events.
