Position Overview:

The Lower School Assistant Principal provides instructional, spiritual, and operational leadership to ensure academic excellence, strong faculty development, and successful student life. This role partners with the Lower School Principal to oversee curriculum implementation, vertical alignment, teacher supervision and mentoring, student spiritual programming, and aftercare operations. This role partners with faculty, students, and families to foster a Christ-centered, academically rigorous, and nurturing learning environment.

Responsibilities:

Partner with LS Principal to-

Academic Leadership and Faculty Development

  • Implement and monitor LS curriculum to ensure academic excellence and vertical alignment within the school mission
  • Analyze student performance data to guide instructional decisions and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop instructional best practices and ensure differentiation for diverse learners
  • Conduct formal and informal teacher observations and provide actionable feedback
  • Coach faculty to promote professional growth and instructional excellence
  • Lead grade level and faculty meetings focused on curriculum, instruction, and student needs

Student Life and Spiritual Formation

  • Oversee the coordination of LS Chapels, spiritual theme, and small group programing (with LS Bible teacher)
  • Partner with faculty to integrate faith and learning across the curriculum
  • Promote a positive, Christ-centered school culture that fosters character development and belonging

Before/Aftercare and Enrichment Program

  • Supervise LS aftercare programming to ensure safety, structure, and mission alignment
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and communication related to aftercare (through overseeing Before/Aftercare Director)
  • Coordinate quarterly enrichment program schedule

Family and Community Engagement

  • Partner with families to support student academic and spiritual growth
  • Communicate proactively and professionally regarding student progress and concerns
  • Support school events and community building initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience (elementary preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional coaching and teacher supervision.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and vertical alignment.
  • Commitment to the mission and faith statement of MPCS.
