Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) Center for Student Success Team Member St. Paul Christian Academy in Nashville seeks an innovative and collaborative educator to join the faculty.  Faculty members at St Paul Christian Academy invest in students to further the St. Paul pillars of Academic Excellence, Passion for Christ, and Leadership Development. A master’s degree is required, and experience working with elementary-level children is preferred. This person will join the six-member team of teachers/therapists serving in the Center for Student Success.  The Center for Student Success (CSS)  provides instruction and support to approximately 70% of our student population. This team leads structured literacy and math instruction and faculty training in kindergarten - 2nd grade. Our CSS team is a strong, multi-disciplinary team that provides  multisensory  instruction and support for students in both large/small group and individual settings.  

This new member of our team will serve students who demonstrate the greatest need for intervention due to dyslexia and/or other specific learning disabilities.

Additional duties include, but are not  limited to:

  1. Demonstrate expertise in Dyslexia intervention strategies for language arts and math.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge in both diagnosing (an eval will already be in place) and intervention.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of Specific Learning Disabilities and interpretation of Psychoeducational Evaluations.
  4. Serve as an advocate for both students and parents.
  5. Bring a continuity of care as the student progresses through lower and upper school levels and transitions to their next-level school.
  6. Work alongside the Center for Student Success to educate classroom teachers about Dyslexia and other Specific Learning Disabilities.
  7. Plan, modify, and execute an individualized plan of care.
  8. Monitor students' progress to support individualized instructional goals and adapt as needed to reach multiple learning styles and abilities effectively.
  9. Effectively manage the classroom and build relationships with students with an emphasis on understanding the whole child. (This person would be providing one-on-one intervention)
  10. Collaborate with the entire teaching team on all student-related matters.
  11. Collaborate with the Center for Student Success team to ensure the appropriate challenge and support are provided to each student.
  12. Manage communication with parents regarding the emotional and academic growth of their children.
  13. Attend and participate in three parent conferences per year to discuss  progress and growth.
  14. Attend weekly faculty meetings.
