US/MS Theater Director

ob Title: Upper/Middle School Theater Director

Reports To: Upper School Principal

Summary:  Provides leadership to the RCS Theater Department, with a primary focus on Upper School and Middle School productions and theater classes. Reports to the Upper School Principal, but also works closely with the Middle School Principal in all Middle School aspects of theater. Responsible for developing and proposing a plan for future performances, subject to approval by administration, while also building sustainability by overseeing the development of a supplementary drama curriculum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  (Other duties may be assigned)

• Overseeing (and directing when necessary) 3-4 annual theater performances at both the Upper and Middle School levels.
• Recruiting students to participate in performances
• Identifying and supervising additional staff to support the growth of the department
• Developing curriculum at both the Upper and Middle School levels to support continued growth and sustainability of RCS Theater
• Teach drama classes at Middle and Upper Schools
• Recruiting talent from surrounding community as needed to support the growing quality of performances
• Advocating for the development and maintenance of a performing arts space on campus

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises any supporting staff or outside talent recruited to assist in school productions.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Education or Theater preferred; five or more years of experience in acting and theater production; experience in education strongly preferred.
