Job Title: High School Math Teacher

Overview: The High School Math Teacher is responsible for delivering comprehensive and engaging math instruction to students in grades 9-12. The role involves planning and executing lessons, assessing student progress, and creating a supportive learning environment. The Teacher will work closely with colleagues, administration, and parents to cultivate a collaborative and engaging classroom that aligns with the school's vision, mission, values, and beliefs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery:
    Teach mathematics courses in alignment with state/national standards, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and/or Statistics.

  • Lesson Planning:
    Develop and implement clear, well-organized lesson plans that meet students' individual learning needs. Adapt lessons to diverse learning styles and abilities.

  • Assessment & Feedback:
    Create, administer, and grade assessments (e.g., quizzes, tests, projects, homework) to evaluate student progress. Provide constructive feedback to support improvement.

  • Classroom Management:
    Establish and maintain an organized, respectful, and positive classroom environment. Use effective classroom management techniques to ensure student engagement and productivity.

  • Collaboration:
    Collaborate with colleagues in the math department and across subjects to integrate cross-curricular learning opportunities. Participate in school meetings, faculty professional development, and department initiatives.

  • Parent Communication:
    Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, behaviors, and academic challenges. Meet with parents during parent-teacher conferences to discuss students' performance.

  • Professional Development:
    Stay up-to-date on new teaching methods, mathematical practices, and technology tools to enhance teaching effectiveness. Participate in relevant professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or related field (required).

    • Teaching certification in Secondary Education (Math)

  • Experience:

    • Previous teaching experience in high school math is preferred, but not required.

    • Familiarity with Common Core standards or state/national math standards.

  • Skills:

    • Strong proficiency in mathematical concepts and problem-solving.

    • Ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible manner.

    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

    • Classroom management skills.

    • Proficiency in using educational technology (e.g., online platforms, graphing calculators, interactive whiteboards).
