Upper School Principal

Job Title: Upper School Principal 

Reports To: President and Head of School

SUMMARY

The Upper School Principal is responsible for the operation of the Upper School and for formulating policy, direction, and plans in collaboration with other members of the campus administration. The Upper School Principal selects and evaluates personnel, supervises students, serves on committees, and provides support and resources to staff. As the administrative and instructional leader, the Upper School Principal provides leadership in the operation and growth of Fort Worth Christian School and establishes and maintains a caring, productive, Christ-centered environment for students and faculty.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Administrative Policy and Procedure

• Execute the policies and standards set forth by the President and Head of School and the Board of Trustees of Fort Worth Christian School.
• Establish and implement general and specific policies related to all Upper School programs.
• Research, review, and maintain accrediting and licensing standards as they pertain to the Upper School.
• Maintain financial responsibilities as outlined in budgets, guidelines, and policies as they pertain to the Upper School.
• Review, analyze, develop, and administer budgets for all Upper School departments.
• Oversee instructional management, including acquisition of textbooks and instructional materials, administration of achievement testing, and scheduling of special programs.

Personnel and Organization

• Direct the recruitment and assignment of qualified Christian faculty and staff aligned with the school’s mission.
• Oversee the development of the master schedule for students and teachers.
• Serve as the instructional leader for Upper School personnel.
• Manage, supervise, and evaluate all Upper School employees.
• Conduct annual written evaluations of all Upper School teachers and staff.
• Make recommendations to the President and Head of School regarding continued employment of Upper School faculty and staff.

Curriculum Development

• Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum in partnership with the Director and Associate Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Health, Safety, and Facilities

• Ensure safe and adequate physical facilities for the Upper School.
• Oversee emergency drills and safety procedures.
• Approve transportation requests and building use.
• Supervise campus areas before, during, and after school.

Student Services

• Evaluate prospective students for grades 9–12 based on transcripts, entrance testing, interviews, and recommendations.
• Develop and enforce discipline policies.
• Conduct student and parent conferences.
• Supervise student behavior and recommend appropriate disciplinary action.
• Approve and coordinate Upper School student activities.

Parent & Student Communication

• Maintain regular, clear, and Christ-centered communication with Upper School parents and students regarding academic expectations, policies, and student life.
• Partner with families to support student growth, well-being, and success.
• Serve as a visible and approachable presence at chapel, school events, athletic contests, fine arts performances, and community gatherings.

Student Life & Culture

• Provide visionary leadership for the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional culture of the Upper School.
• Cultivate a Christ-centered community that reflects Fort Worth Christian School’s mission and values.
• Oversee chapel, retreats, service learning, and student leadership programs.
• Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, respect, and belonging.
• Support the social and emotional well-being of students through partnership with counselors, faculty, and parents.
• Build unity, school spirit, and meaningful traditions within the Upper School.
• Ensure that student life policies and practices align with biblical principles and support a safe, nurturing, and orderly learning environment.

Spiritual and Servant Leadership

• Lead in the spiritual formation of students through biblical worldview integration and discipleship.
• Model Christ-centered character in professional and personal conduct.

Other Duties

• Perform other duties as assigned by the President and Head of School.
• Collaborate with campus leadership to support the mission and growth of Fort Worth Christian School.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Commitment to living and serving in accordance with the Fort Worth Christian School Statement of Faith and Beliefs.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 15 graduate hours in educational administration or supervision.
• Ongoing professional development.
• At least three years of teaching experience.
• Valid Mid-Management Certificate.
• Minimum of five years of administrative experience is preferred.
