 Second Baptist School is currently seeking SOCIAL CONTENT CREATOR for the 2025-2026 school year.

JOB SUMMARY.

Under the direction of the director of communications, the social content creator is a strategic storyteller who develops and executes content across the school’s social media platforms. This role requires energy, creativity and a strong understanding of what drives engagement in a fast-moving digital landscape.

The ideal candidate is a sharp, concise writer who can craft content that reflects the school’s voice, mission and brand. While not required to be a professional photographer or videographer, the social content creator should demonstrate a working knowledge of visual composition and feel confident capturing photos and video clips. Collaboration is essential, and this individual will work closely with teammates and departments across campus to build content that informs, inspires and connects.

The social content creator also organizes and maintains the school’s internal photo library, coordinates with contract photographers and manages the school’s vendor relationship and annual process for individual and class pictures. In addition, this role will cross-train on all communications platforms to support team flexibility and continuity.

To perform this job successfully, candidates must:

  • Understand social media trends, engagement strategies and audience behavior.
  • Possess photography and video skills, including visual composition and framing.
  • Use scheduling and content planning tools. (e.g., Buffer, Meta Business Suite)
  • Work efficiently and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate well with others.
  • Represent the SBS brand and voice in all content and interactions.
  • Apply sound judgment in online engagement and public storytelling.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing content, calendars and digital assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and manage the school’s social media calendar and campaign strategy.
  • Write, edit and post daily content across platforms, including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Attend and capture key campus events and activities for digital coverage.
  • Attend and support evening and weekend events as needed for content coverage or team support.
  • Serve as a contributing writer and editor for Eagle magazine.
  • Develop, write and post weekly articles on the school website.
  • Produce and manage content during the summer months to maintain engagement and support schoolwide initiatives.
  • Work closely with departments across campus to understand communication needs.
  • Collaborate with communications teammates to align messaging and visual standards.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all posts and interactions.
  • Track performance metrics and use analytics to inform content decisions, support strategy and drive audience growth.
  • Complete the social media section of the communications dashboard for monthly review by the team and school leadership.
  • Curate and share user-generated content in alignment with brand values.
  • Organize and maintain internal photo libraries and digital assets.
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics with contract photographers for campus events.
  • Manage the annual school picture process in partnership with the school’s photography vendor.
  • Cross-train in communications office tools and platforms, including email and messaging systems, website updates, project management, digital asset management and print production workflows.
  • Mentor Communications Fellows and serve as their point of contact for social media projects and on-the-job experience.

Candidates should also demonstrate a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset, participate in professional development opportunities, network with peers outside SBS and set meaningful goals. Candidates with independent school communications experience or prior knowledge of Second Baptist Church and School are considered a plus.
