Technology Support Specialist

Reports to:  Director of Technology and Innovation

Full time, 12-month position 

General Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. 
  2. Prior experience in a technical support role with experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
  5. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.  
  6. (Preferred) Strong knowledge of macOS operating systems, Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and Experience with Google Workspace for Education.

Primary Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students via phone, email, and in-person, addressing issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
  2. Diagnose and resolve technical problems.
  3. Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
  4. Assist with the setup and maintenance of classroom technology, including projectors, interactive whiteboards, and audio-visual equipment.
  5. Collaborate with other members of the technology team including technology facilitators, to implement and support new technologies.
  6. Stay up-to-date on current technology trends and best practices.
  7. Assist with basic network administration tasks, such as user account management, network troubleshooting, and security updates.
  8. Teach technology courses as assigned - could include computer programming, engineering, robotics, or other emerging technologies.
  9. Implement and maintain systems and procedures to monitor and address student safety, and ensure compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations, including FERPA, COPPA, and CIPA.
  10. Complete other duties as assigned.
