JOB DESCRIPTION: 3-day Permanent Substitute (M, T, W) or 2-day Permanent Substitute (Th, F)


Responsible to: Academic Directors
The permanent substitute is considered an employee of The Christ School. This position has been established to fi rst, provide consistent classroom support in the absence of the classroom teacher, and second, to support the work of the Academic Office which include specifi c duties such as morning and afternoon carpool, lunch duty, desk coverage, etc.


A TCS Teacher/Staff Exhibits:
● A deep faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and acceptance of the authority of scriptures as a guide for faith and living. Actively pursues spiritual growth through personal devotions, Bible study, church involvement, etc…


Specific Responsibilities:
● Perform all classroom teacher duties according to a regular schedule.
○ Provide supervision for students at all times; escort lower school students to and from specials, lower school recess, middle school PAWS, lunch, carpool dismissal, and on fi eld trips.
○ Ensure a warm and safe classroom environment for all students. Uphold the standards of behavior while reinforcing a loving, nurturing Christian environment.
○ Communicate with the classroom teacher regarding student behavior and academic progress.
● Performs duties outside of the classroom as assigned by the administration, i.e. lunchroom, carpool, recess, office support.
Required Qualifications:
● Evidence and articulate a faith and relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
● Understand and actively support The Christ School mission, vision, and defi ning characteristics
● Profi ciency in GoogleSuite (docs, sheets, gmail, calendar)
● Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
● Must be able to effectively traverse possibly uneven ground to manage students
● Must be able to ascend/descend multiple fl ights of stairs and transport about 10-15 pounds
● Experience in an educational environment; teaching experience preferred
