Position Title: High School Algebra 1 and High School Geometry College Prep/Pre-AP teacher
Reports To: Principal
Status: Full-Time
Work Schedule: M-F (7:30AM-4:00PM)
Position Purpose:
The High School Algebra 1 and High School Geometry College Prep/Pre-AP teacher will implement a rigorous academic program in math that aligns with The Woodlands Christian Academy’s Christ-centered mission and will provide opportunities for maximum student development and growth through developmentally appropriate learning experiences. The teacher will design and implement a wide variety of instructional strategies that will accommodate various learning styles in accordance with the school curriculum and mission statement.
High School Algebra 1 Teacher will educate and guide students in understanding the fundamental principles of algebra. The teacher will help build a strong foundation for students' mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities.
High School Geometry College Prep/Pre-AP Teacher will instruct and guide students in understanding the fundamental concepts of geometry. The teacher will prepare students for advanced mathematics and real world problem-solving. The teacher under the direction of the Principal, is responsible for teaching assigned content, managing student behavior, supporting students’ emotional and academic needs, evaluating student learning profile and learning needs, and establishing class activities, lessons, routines, and procedures to provide the optimal learning of all students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching certification or licensure in the relevant subject and grade level.
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.
- Ability to independently supervise 20 or more students.
- Ability to handle emergency situations, fire drills, and communications as necessary or appropriate for the safety of the students and school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a comprehensive algebra curriculum aligned with Warrior standards.
- Design and implement a comprehensive geometry curriculum aligned with Warrior standards.
- Design and implement a comprehensive Pre-AP geometry curriculum aligned with College Board standards.
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons to high school students.
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a positive environment
- Communicates material to students in a confident and clear manner, responds to student questions, provides interactive lessons, and otherwise ensures students’ optimal learning.
- Appropriately manages classroom and students, providing proper supervision regarding student conduct and interaction.
- Communicates effectively with parents, including via report cards, conferences, and email; timely responds to any concerns raised by parents or others.
- Attends and participates in required faculty meetings.
- Attends and participates meaningfully in grade level field trips.
- Attends and participates meaningfully in occasional functions out of the normal workday, evening, and weekend such as Beyond the Wall trips.
- Performs hall duty as assigned, watching for, and addressing inappropriate student interactions and reporting any concerning behavior to Administration.
- Responds appropriately in the event of an emergency, ensuring that students are safe and following safety guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Be a responsible steward of TWCA’s resources and personally support TWCA’s fundraising efforts at a level as able.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- The ideal candidate can:
- Occasionally lift to 30 pounds.
- Work in standard office conditions and climate.
- Work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and fundraising events, as needed.
- Perform in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
- Sit and stand for extended periods of time; bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
- Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
