Savannah Christian Preparatory School is seeking an experienced music educator to lead our Upper School Band program. This person will have the opportunity to create and teach within an extensive and award-winning Fine Arts Department. This multifaceted position involves directing the Upper School Concert Band, leading the Marching Band program, and teaching music courses such as Music Appreciation, Music Theory, etc.

Holding a faculty rank, the US Band Director will collaborate with the LS and MS Band Director as well as the LS and MS/US Chorus Director to ensure a well-rounded, cross-divisional music curriculum. Likewise, this position is responsible for securing and supervising Marching Band auxiliary staff as well as maintaining the inventory of school-owned instruments, equipment, and uniforms.

Requirements
 
The candidate must have experience leading an instrumental music program and should demonstrate leadership skills for program development. The candidates for this position will be carefully and prayerfully evaluated according to the following essential criteria:
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in music and teaching experience.
  • Professing Christian with a Biblically sound faith experience that is clearly communicated.
  • Holding a core belief in Biblical integration within a framework of academics, with the ability to implement and expand such a framework.
  • Possessing the ability to create, direct, and maintain a total program that provides continuity and training  that prepares students for performances, competitions, etc.
  • Leading through service, encouragement, and strength.

  • Display a personal and professional behavior reflective of the characteristics of a Christ-follower
  • Reflect excellence in curriculum content, planning, alignment, and delivery
  • Demonstrate expertise in instructional practices, management, and assessments
