SALARY: $23,400 - $79,000 average range; actual salary based on number of classes, degree, 

and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

Southwest Christian High School (SWCHS) exists to develop mature disciples of Jesus Christ who seek, know, live, and proclaim the Truth and glorify God through academic, artistic, and athletic excellence. SWCHS provides a caring environment in which every student is known and valued. This teacher will be responsible for multiple sections of a Worldview & Culture course to high school seniors with the opportunity  to teach additional classes in another subject area.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Preparation and Instructional Excellence

  • Design and implement engaging curriculum that not only meets the course's learning objectives but also actively fosters critical thinking, communication, and collaboration among students.
  • Integrate biblical principles and Christian philosophy of education aligned with SWCHS’s beliefs. 
  • Willingness to learn and utilize the Teaching for Transformation framework throughout instructional practices.
  • Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole student: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.
  • Maintain accurate grading, attendance, and student progress records; communicate updates in a timely manner to SWCHS students and their families.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, parents and students.
  • Maintain a clean, inviting, well-ordered classroom.

 

Teamwork

  • Collaborate with department colleagues to develop and deliver consistent and sound instruction. 
  • Engage in ongoing communication and collaboration with SWCHS colleagues to strengthen student learning.
  • Develop relationships across SWCHS that reflect teamwork, relational unity, and spiritual growth.
  • Recognize the value of positive public relations and represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to our community. 

 

Supplemental Responsibilities

  • Engage in extracurricular activities, organizations, outings, or other tasks as agreed upon with School Administration.
  • Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional and spiritual growth and development. 
  • Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and leadership functions in the school.



JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Spiritual Qualities: Faculty at Southwest Christian High School will be expected to commit to the following:

  • Christian faith; demonstrated character of integrity; solid knowledge of God’s Word; vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Active participation in a local Bible-believing church. 
  • Acknowledge Christ as Savior and seek to live his/her life as His disciple; evidence of the fruit of the Spirit in dealing with people.
  • Demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by his/her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual outreach.
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God’s biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40). 
  • Commit to, sign, and uphold SWCHS’s Pledge of Integrity & Biblical Morality, Statement of Faith, Vision & Values, and Social Position Statement as a condition for employment. 

Educational Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited postsecondary institution in a related field of subject being taught.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Solid biblical and theological foundation and understanding.

 

Professional Qualities

  • Demonstrate a sensitivity and ability to interact effectively with students, staff, parents, and volunteers. 
  • Understand the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality in the operation of the classroom and school.
  • Demonstrate teachability and receptivity to feedback.
  • Make an effort to appreciate and understand the uniqueness of the SWCHS community. 

 

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in required technology including but not limited to classroom management software (i.e., Blackbaud, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office).
