Ambassador Christian School is set to open in August 2024. The school has a bold vision to launch ambassadors for Christ into all spheres of influence. In year one, the school anticipates having 180 students 9th-11th grade and will add seniors for the 2025-2026 school year. Over the next few years, the school will grow to 1000 in the high school and is seeking to build dynamic programs in academics, athletics, fine arts, industrial arts, and service. The school is well positioned on a 29 acre campus and with an 80,000 sq ft building in the growing suburbs of North Charlotte. 

ROLE SUMMARY

Faculty members at Ambassador Christian High School are charged with launching ambassadors for Christ into all spheres of influence. Ambassador Faculty live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents and team members. Ambassador Faculty are not only masters of the curriculum, but they see each student as a unique individual to be known and loved. Faculty members prepare students for college or their calling and mentor students in all aspects of their academic and spiritual development.

The College Counselor/Admission Coordinator is a hybrid role with responsibilities in both departments. 

This position will administratively support Ambassador’s commitment to fill our school with well-aligned students who desire a unique college preparatory high school education based on a vision that values biblical principles and emphasizes the highest level of academic, artistic, athletic, and co-curricular achievement. The position will serve under the direction of the Director of Student Services and is responsible for coordinating and supporting Ambassador’s college counseling and admission programs while delivering exceptional customer service and excellent customer relations through timely, effective communications. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate flexibility, and maintain a positive attitude while working closely with other team members and prospective families.

Think innovatively about how to uniquely cultivate relationships with college admissions officers 

  • Build meaningful relationships and coordinate campus visits with college admission officers
  • Work to meet the needs of college admission officers so they have a wonderful experience when on Ambassador’s campus
  • Create opportunities to serve the college admission community so that Ambassador is a trusted partner in their recruiting efforts
  • Work to create Ambassador-branded college parent nights
  • Develop ways to work effectively with facilities and event support for on-campus events

9th Grade Support

  • Facilitate and coordinate intervention for 9th-grade students who are facing unique struggles in their transition to Ambassador 
  • Facilitate course selections for rising 9th-grade students 
  • Assist with schedule changes during the drop-add period

 

College and Career Advising

  • Assist in planning meaningful, grade-appropriate biweekly Advisory discussions and activities
  • Serve on the committee to plan annual Calling Prep summit/work to analyze and improve each event

 

Ability to grow into a full counseling load

  • This requires have an understanding of the college admissions process or at least a willingness to learn what is needed to support families in this way
  • Desire for the ideal candidate of this position to be able to take on a full-time counseling load at some point in the future

ADMISSION COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Provide Exceptional Customer Service to Prospective Families

  • Provide exceptional customer service while developing relationships with all prospective students and their families
  • Coordinate and attend High School Fairs at local Middle Schools
  • Follow up on leads of prospective students from Middle School coaches and Summer Art and Athletic Camp Participants with an invitation to explore Ambassador 
  • In collaboration with Ambassador Marketing and Communications Department, showcase Ambassador via open houses, special events, and admission-related activities
  • Give tours of the campus

 

Coordination and Support of Admission Processes from Inquiry and Applications to Completion of the Enrollment Process

  • Follow up and document all inquiries through Northstar or FACTS
  • Review and pre-screen all Admission applications to determine fit for mission-appropriate, culturally aligned families
  • Manage and oversee the interview process – scheduling, coordination and participationCoordination of applicant testing
  • Management of Ambassador’s Admission Database, including data entry and report preparation
  • Coordinate family campus tours
  • Coordinate student Shadow Days by recruiting, interviewing and training Student Ambassadors (current Ambassador students) and matching them with prospective students via academic and co-curricular interests
  • Follow up with Shadow Day visitors for feedback about their experience; use this feedback to improve the Shadow Day program, if needed
  • Track and coordinate Admission follow-up calls in an efficient and timely manner
  • Communicate new student enrollment information to Registrar and Finance Department
  • Facilitate a seamless, collaborative transitions from Admission to Enrollment
