Job Title:  Lower School Bilingual Math Interventionist & Coach

Department: Lower School

Reports To:  Lower School Principal

Salary Range: $45,090 - $80,404 DOE

Summary: Instructs both English and Spanish Immersion students in Math skills by performing essential teaching duties and coaches all math teachers, assuring that the mission of the schools is supported. Models a servant’s heart and promotes an attitude of respect, teamwork and professionalism by speaking well of other faculty and staff members; supporting our entire school system- Lower School, Middle School, Upper School; praying for and with other faculty and staff; encouraging others in Godly living and excellence; lovingly holding others accountable; actively pursuing ways to encourage members of the schools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Instructs students using whole group, small group, and individual instruction methods; utilizes proven intervention strategies, research-based practices, curriculum, and other resources to support instruction
  • Prepares objectives and creates individualized student goals following curriculum guidelines or requirements of the school with the goal of helping students to reach grade level proficiency as quickly as possible
  • Administers formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress, records results, and differentiates instruction based on assessment results
  • Communicates clearly and consistently with homeroom teachers and parents to discuss student progress and challenges
  • Serves as a resource for teachers, modeling lessons, coaching teachers, and providing instructional resources
  • Designs and leads professional development presentations for teachers in partnership with the LS Academic Dean
  • Works with teachers to identify issues with students or curriculum, set goals, and solve problems
  • Participates in faculty and professional development meetings, educational conferences, teacher training workshops, and independent educational study for growth
  • Performs related duties such as before and/or after school monitoring

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience; or fifth year college or university program certificate or two to four years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; valid teaching credential or willingness to work toward teaching credential

Credentials, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

A certified teaching credential (or willingness to pursue a credential) is required. A combination of education and experience may be considered by the administration in lieu of a credential, dependent upon the teacher’s duties.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in conversational and academic Spanish
  • Well versed in elementary mathematics content and pedagogy; able to work both directly with students and with classroom teachers to improve student’s math skills and knowledge
  • Self-motivated and passionate about math instruction
  • Effective communicators who aren’t afraid to provide honest feedback
  • Profess a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
  • Maintain a positive Christian testimony
  • Be involved in a local church of like faith and practice, consistent with the RCS Statement of Faith
  • Agree with and adhere to the employee handbook
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to meet people comfortably and engage in substantive conversation
  • Must be able to work diligently and independently and make judgments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle financial matters with integrity and with concern for confidentiality
  • Ability to use technology
